Ocala Floor Pros
Floor Removal & Preparation

Professional Floor Removal & Preparation

A beautiful new floor starts with proper preparation. We carefully remove existing flooring and prepare the subfloor to provide the best possible foundation for your new waterproof LVP flooring.

Why Floor Preparation Matters

The work you don't see is what makes the floor you do.

Every premium flooring installation begins long before the first plank goes down. Proper floor removal and subfloor preparation directly shape how your new floor looks, how it performs, and how long it lasts.

A flat, clean, structurally sound subfloor is what allows waterproof LVP to sit perfectly, lock together cleanly, and stay quiet underfoot for years. Skip that step, and even the best flooring in the world will telegraph every imperfection beneath it.

Proper preparation also protects your investment. Most premium flooring manufacturers require specific subfloor conditions for their warranties to remain valid — meaning shortcuts during removal and prep can quietly cost you long-term coverage.

At Ocala Floor Pros, removal and preparation aren't an afterthought tucked into an estimate. They're a core part of how we deliver flooring projects that look, feel, and perform like premium work — because they are.

Flooring We Remove

Carpet, laminate, vinyl, and more — handled professionally.

Most of our projects begin with removing existing flooring before installing premium waterproof LVP. We handle the demolition, cleanup, and disposal so you don't have to coordinate anything separately.

Carpet & Pad

Full carpet and pad removal, including tack strips and staples — cleanly and efficiently.

Laminate

Click-lock laminate planks lifted, separated, and removed without damaging the subfloor.

Sheet Vinyl

Glued sheet vinyl removed and residual adhesive addressed so your new floor sits flat.

Existing LVP

Old luxury vinyl plank removed and disposed of properly before your new install begins.

Engineered Wood

Glued or nailed engineered wood carefully removed with attention to the subfloor below.

Tile (Select Projects)

Ceramic and porcelain tile removal handled on select projects — discussed during your consultation.

Preparing The Subfloor

A complete, methodical subfloor preparation process.

After removal, we don't simply roll out new flooring — we evaluate, address, and prepare the surface beneath it so your new floor performs the way it was designed to.

Thorough Cleaning

We sweep and vacuum debris, dust, and loose material so the subfloor is ready to evaluate.

Fastener & Adhesive Removal

Staples, tack strips, exposed nails, and residual adhesive are addressed for a smooth surface.

Minor Subfloor Repairs

Loose boards, squeaks, and small damaged areas are repaired before any new flooring goes down.

Moisture Inspection

We evaluate slab and subfloor conditions so the install is set up for Florida's reality.

Leveling Where Appropriate

Low spots and uneven areas are addressed so your new floor feels flat and performs as designed.

Transition Planning

Doorways, thresholds, and room changes are planned in advance for a clean, professional finish.

Proper subfloor preparation is what makes the difference between a floor that looks great on day one and a floor that still looks great years later. It's also why we recommend professional installation for every LVP installation and waterproof flooring project.

Why Professional Removal Saves Time

Done right the first time — faster, cleaner, safer.

DIY removal almost always takes longer, costs more, and creates more risk than expected. Professional flooring demolition compresses the timeline and protects your home in the process.

Proper Tools

The right equipment makes removal faster, safer, and far less damaging to your subfloor.

Cleaner Removal

We contain dust and debris and keep your home as clean as possible throughout the process.

Safe Disposal

Old flooring is hauled away and disposed of — you don't have to lift, load, or schedule a thing.

Reduced Risk of Damage

Trim, cabinets, drywall, and transitions are protected so removal doesn't create more work.

Better Finished Results

Properly prepped subfloors lead to floors that look better, sit flatter, and last longer.

Faster Project Timeline

Professional removal compresses the demo phase so your install starts — and finishes — on schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

Floor removal & preparation, answered.

Do you remove carpet?
Yes. Carpet removal is one of the most common parts of our projects. We remove the carpet, pad, tack strips, and staples and dispose of everything for you.
Do you remove tile?
Tile removal is offered on select projects. Because tile removal is labor-intensive and project-specific, we'll evaluate your existing tile, subfloor, and scope during your free in-home consultation and let you know what's involved.
Can new flooring be installed over existing flooring?
In some cases yes, but it isn't usually the right answer. Installing over old flooring can hide subfloor issues, raise floor height, and shorten the life of your new floor. We almost always recommend removing the existing flooring and properly preparing the subfloor first.
What happens if the subfloor needs repairs?
If we find damaged subfloor, soft spots, squeaks, or moisture concerns, we'll show you exactly what we found and explain the recommended repair before any work is done. No surprise charges — just honest answers and a clear plan.
Do you dispose of the old flooring?
Yes. We haul away the old flooring, padding, and debris as part of your project. You don't have to schedule a dumpster, load anything, or coordinate disposal — we handle it all.
How long does floor removal take?
Most residential removals are completed in part of a day to a full day, depending on square footage, the type of flooring, and subfloor condition. We'll give you a realistic timeline during your in-home consultation.
Do you move furniture?
Yes, we help move standard furniture as part of the project. For very heavy items, electronics, or fragile pieces, we'll walk through the details during your consultation so there are no surprises on install day.
Will removal and prep be messy?
Removal does generate dust and debris — that's unavoidable. What's in our control is how carefully we contain it. We protect adjacent rooms, manage debris as we work, and leave your home cleaner than most homeowners expect.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We offer flexible financing through our trusted partner, Acorn Finance. Visit our Financing Options page or ask during your free in-home consultation.
How do I schedule a consultation?
